DESCRIPTION:The Centre for Autism and Theology are pleased to invite you to an online conference in November\, focusing on engaging with nonspeaking and black autistic Christians. \nThrough this gathering\, the Centre hopes to foster meaningful dialogue\, share critical research\, and build connections that bridge academic\, professional\, and lived experience. The event forms part of the project “Access Denied: Spirituality at the Intersections of Autism\, Ethnic Minority\, and Non-Speaking Autism”\, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). \n\nDay 1: Autism and spirituality\nDay 2: Autism\, Spirituality and communication\nDay 3: Autism\, Faith & Cultural Minority Groups\n\nA full schedule and speaker information can be found on the University of Aberdeen’s website. \nTalk topics include: Spirituality Grounded in Autistic Experiences; Autism in Islam and Buddhism; The Spiritual and Religious Lives of Non-or Minimally-Speaking Autistic People; Communicating about Spirituality and Religion with Talking Mats; Autism in Black Majority Churches in the United Kingdom; Listening to the lived experience of Black autistic Christians; and Autism in Black Communities: Theology\, Church\, and Lived Experiences. \nBooking information\nThe conference will take place online via Microsoft Teams with BSL available.
