Civic Reception to mark Glasgow’s 850th Anniversary
November 6 @ 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm
The Rt Hon The Lord Provost Councillor Jacqueline McLaren and Glasgow City Council will host a Civic Reception in Glasgow City Chambers with Interfaith Glasgow to mark Scottish Interfaith Week 2025.
This landmark gathering will bring together faith leaders, civic representatives, and community members to reaffirm Glasgow’s commitment to interfaith cooperation and shared values, to celebrate the foundational interfaith achievements of committed individuals, and to strengthen bonds across Glasgow’s diverse communities.
We will:
- Launch the Glasgow 850 Interfaith Declaration – a unifying statement of shared values and commitments to foster dialogue and mutual respect and to work for equality, climate justice, peace, and welcome for refugees – to serve as a guiding framework for interfaith engagement in the years ahead.
- Eat together – Strengthening civic and interfaith partnerships by bringing together diverse faith and belief leaders, community members, elected representatives, and grassroots activists, to strengthen interfaith connections and bonds of friendship over a shared meal.
- Celebrate 50 years of interfaith engagement – Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to individuals from different faith traditions who have helped the foundations for positive interfaith engagement in Glasgow and continued to contribute over five decades.
