We produced a short film to mark the 20th anniversary of Scottish Interfaith Week in 2024 and we are delighted to finally share it with you all.

You can share the film with friends on FacebookX/Twitter and Instagram.

A vibrant audience watched the premiere of our short film at a launch event in Glasgow on Wednesday 14th May, 2025.

The event featured special guest speakers, and an announcement from Interfaith Scotland’s Director Dr Maureen Sier about the festival’s focus on young people and education.

“Our vision is for Scottish Interfaith Week to become the springboard from which children can dive into adulthood feeling confident in their ability to respectfully engage with people of different beliefs and backgrounds,” said Dr Sier.

Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills Ms Jenny Gilruth was unable to attend the event and sent a recorded message about the importance of Scottish Interfaith Week and educating young people about faiths and beliefs.

“Religious and moral education makes a really important contribution to the personal and social development of children and young people, supporting them to understand their own beliefs, values, practices, and traditions, as well as those of others. It plays a really vital role in helping our children and young people to value a diverse and respectful Scotland, supporting them to become responsible and truly global citizens,” said Ms Gilruth.

Ravinder Kaur Nijjar, Chair of Religions for Peace UK, Advisor to the Sikhs in Scotland and Co-Founder of Scottish Interfaith Week spoke about the history of the festival and the importance of education. Joe Sikora and Claire Butler talked about embedding Scottish Interfaith Week into the school curriculum and the Caritas Award.

Our Interfaith Youth Advisory Board members Haikal and Sonia spoke about the events they organised for last year’s festival and the impact these experiences had on them.

We ended the evening with group dialogue about the festival’s theme and vision for the future, with many interesting ideas and thoughts shared.
